I actually wanted to re-decorate my room. Instead, I spent my evening reading Reichenbach theories.
We’ve all seen those ideas about neither John or Sherlock existing but being mental creations for the other for subconscious support etc, right? Well what if Sherlock and John did both exist but instead of faking his death Sherlock actually did die and Sherlock’s “return” is just John’s final coping mechanism? Like he imagines Sherlock’s return because the idea of his friend’s death hurts so much. So by having Sherlock “back” he can pretend everything returned to normal and he’s not broken or sad John who had nothing to live for. He’s John with a reason to live because the only person who ever had hope in him is dead and he just can’t live with that any more.
